Week 1: Audience & Company Research

I use a combination of top-tier SEO tools, AI technology, and expert human judgement to develop a data-based, audience-focused strategy.

Before we get started, you’ll fill out a registration form and schedule a phone consultation so I can learn about your company, services, audience, and marketing goals.

Next, I conduct a thorough blog content audit and site evaluation.

Purpose:

  1. Define your content goals and develop reader personas.
  2. Evaluate the quality, value, and performance of your current blog content.
  3. Identify any technical issues that may be harming your site’s search engine optimization.
  4. Analyze low-performing content to identify posts that should be refreshed, rewritten, or deleted.

Goal:

Obtain the analytics and information needed to begin developing your content strategy.

Deliverables from this stage:

  1. A full evaluation of your current blog content and its performance on the SERPS
  2. A prioritized task list to help your web developer address technical SEO issues
  3. A summary of low-performing content with update recommendations
  4. Detailed reader personas

Week 2: Keyword Research & Topic Planning

The days of driving tons of random traffic to your blog, hoping that something sticks, are over.

Creating people-first, helpful content means finding keywords that attract your target audience. I take keyword research to the next level by balancing SERP opportunities with the interests of your audience.

This approach aims to drive qualified traffic that boosts your rankings and builds trust and authority for your brand.

Purpose:

  1. Develop topic clusters to strengthen your internal linking systems, user experience, and SEO.
  2. Identify several types of keyword opportunities, including:
    1. Topic-focused keywords
    2. Long-tail keywords with high ranking potential
    3. Audience-focused keywords to meet the needs of your target readers
    4. Competitive keyword gaps
    5. Campaign and holiday keywords, if applicable

3. Identify any current blog posts that need re-optimization for new keywords.

Goal: Collect the research and data needed to build a competitive, audience-focused keyword strategy and content hierarchy.

    Deliverables:

Keyword map in Google Sheets format, arranged in topic clusters

    • Your keyword map includes:
      • List of primary and variation keywords for each blog post, organized in pillar and cluster topic format
      • Tracking columns and drop-down buttons to guide future updates

    Week 3: Consultation and Feedback

By this stage, I’ve completed all the research needed to build your content strategy and create your team resources.

Before moving forward, we’ll chat by phone so you can ask questions, share your input, and request adjustments if needed.

    We’ll also talk about your:

    • Brand tone and voice
    • Writers’ guidelines
    • AI policies

Once you give your stamp of approval, I’m ready to begin creating your deliverables.
